About me:

Zohreh Tabatabai is a familiar face in the diplomatic and global business arenas, having spent many years in high profile positions during her thirty years of working at the United Nations in various capacities. As the chief coordinator of the UN’s Fiftieth Anniversary Celebration, she created new strategies for assembling public-private partnerships to assure the success of the event, and she coordinated the activities of more than 100 heads of state who travelled to New York to participate. During her 20 years at UN headquarters, Ms. Tabatabai also served as Focal Point for Women and as Chief of the Public Services Section. Most recently she served at the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Geneva as a senior member of the Director General’s Cabinet and as the Director of Communications, heading a team of 150 people around the world. Throughout her tenure in the UN System, she pioneered methods for bringing in outside partners to work on extending the UN’s visibility and effectiveness across a broad range of initiatives.
Upon leaving the ILO in 2010, Zohreh formed Quince Partners, a communications and public relations consultancy with the aim of helping companies reach their clients more effectively, extend their markets globally, as well as develop CSR initiatives material to their company ethos. Being a firm believer in the power of networking among women to transform the world, she devotes her energies to creating opportunities for women leaders to meet and collaborate on efforts to bring progressive change to their societies.
She has designed a series of exclusive events bringing together accomplished women from the arts, entertainment, science, technology, finance and government sectors to hold off-the-record discussions, network and take effective action on issues of global importance. These events have been held in major cities and capitals throughout the world, their enormous success led to the development of an online platform where participants had the opportunity to continue their “conversations” and strengthen professional relationships worldwide as well as bring their skills to assist members of the network in tackling social challenges and creating change. Zohreh is now taking this initiative to the next level at the request of many of its participants.
Zohreh Tabatabai continues to work with a number of companies and also serves on the boards of a number of non-governmental organizations, non-profit institutions and charitable foundations with a special focus on empowerment of women, human rights, and poverty reduction.

About me:

Roberta Ventura is based in Geneva; she left her twenty-year career in Investment Banking and Asset Management in October 2016, to run the Social Enterprise she founded, SEP Jordan, on a full-time basis. SEP Jordan is a fashion and lifestyle brand, which blends Italian style with the finest Middle-Eastern craftsmanship, with the aim of bringing back dignity and pride to refugee camps. Roberta is a strong believer and advocate of refugees’ right to employment, education and empowerment – the key instruments to reach confidence, determination and self-sufficiency. She graduated with Hons in Business Administration at Bocconi University in 1997. Roberta serves on the Board of Kofi Annan’s Swiss Cartooning for Peace Foundation, on the UNHCR Livelihoods Advisory Board and she is President of the Association Friends of FIFDH (International Human Rights Film Festival, Geneva).

A legal practitioner with professional experience both in the profit and non-profit sectors, I have a substantive expertise in international negotiations and cross-industry legal skills. After starting my career as a consultant on liability issues to major insurance companies, I worked as legal advocacy adviser for an international non-governmental organization, where I designed and implemented capacity-building projects for legal reform worldwide. Joining thereafter the international contracts team of an industry leader in its sector granted me exposure to and a key role in the negotiation of a broad variety of commercial agreements. Thanks to my Italian origins I was so lucky to grow up surrounded by beauty, design and creativity, and in recent years I was offered some great opportunities to cultivate my natural curiosity about the fashion world. This journey led me to believe that supporting brands to make sustainable choices lies at the heart of what I can offer, as a legal practitioner and advocate for ethical fashion. Born and raised in Italy, I have been living for over 10 years in Geneva, Switzerland. I am fluent in English, French, Spanish and Italian.

Vice-Chairwoman

Barbara came to her first Giving Women luncheon in 2017 and subsequently became active in evaluating projects, educational workshops and the annual conference planning committee. In 2018 she joined the Executive Committee.

Barbara’s background is firmly rooted in philanthropy.  Her twenty-year career was inspired by a two-year posting to a rural village in Ethiopia with the U.S. Peace Corps. From there she became a global humanitarian providing disaster relief and recovery primarily in Asia/Pacific and the Middle East. Working with diverse stakeholders in both the public and private sector, she became adept at designing projects addressing complex root causes and measuring for impact. Most recently she was designing engagement strategies for multinational companies as well as the largest global foundations at the World Economic Forum.  She holds a degree in public policy from Duke University as well as an executive MBA from the University of Geneva.

In addition to her own philanthropic activities such as serving as a board member to local associations, Barbara now has her own practice accompanying private individuals and their families on their philanthropy journeys.
