Financial Management for Non-Profits 
Budgets, Forecasts and Management Accounts

In the first part of this workshop we will learn the importance of budgeting, how to build a budget, understanding all the components and how to read a budget and manage accounts, internal budgets, and cash flow.

In the second part of the evening, we will look at how to report to funders.

Both sections will be accompanied by an interactive hands-on session to apply our new knowledge to a specific example to ensure that we have a hold on the theory and will be able to apply it in our work and project circles.

** Please bring a laptop or tablet, if possible, to facilitate the hands-on part of the workshop **

We are lucky to have Tracey Hooks, an experienced financial management trainer, and Joanna Boyd, a committed Giving Women member with deep experience in financial management of NGOs large and small.

Bio of speakers: 

Tracey Hooks (ACMA CGMA BA Hons Business Administration) spent most of her career in the private sector specialising in commercial and management accounts. A significant part of which comprised working with and reporting to non-financial stakeholders.  In 2014 she transferred to the Not-for-Profit sector where, in addition to management accounts, she coordinated the production of Trustee Annual Reports and chaired the Risk committee.

Joanna Boyd is originally British and now also a Swiss citizen, she qualified as a Chartered Accountant with PwC in London working in audit, training and consulting before taking a career break to raise 3 children and has lived and worked all over the world. She recently graduated with an MSc in Philanthropy and Grant Management from CASS Business School London, and is now following her passion to work in the development sector having moved from Zurich to Geneva this summer.
