In this workshop we will learn about impact evaluations, including what they are, the different approaches that can be used to measure impact and when they might be helpful to your programme. During the first half, basic concepts will be introduced which will be put into practice in the second half of the session. At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Define ‘impact’ evaluation,
  • Understand what is required to measure impact, and alternative forms of measurement to share programme/project results and outcomes, and
  • Be equipped to apply various approaches for assessing impact

Facilitators:

Leslie Moreland and Emmanuella Baguma currently work at Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance as Programmer Officers in the Evaluation Unit. Leslie has an MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) and Emmanuella Baguma has an MPH from Imperial College London. Both have worked in the international health sector supporting a variety of initiatives, focused on programming, monitoring and evaluation in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Combined, they have experience in designing, implementing and commissioning a variety of types of evaluations, including strategic and thematic programme and policy evaluations.

In advance of the training, it would be great if participants could review some basic documentation which can be accessed here.

Please note that a light dinner will be served.
