Women of the world: “How Climate Change is impacting female lives globally”
A discussion with the NGO, The Nature Conservancy

Come along to learn how environmental issues are impacting women’s lives worldwide – and what The Nature Conservancy is doing to help.

Founded over 65 years ago, The Nature Conservancy (TNC) is a conservation organization working in 72 countries dedicated to conserving the lands and waters on which all life depends. Guided by science, this organization creates innovative, on-the-ground solutions to our world’s toughest challenges so that nature and people can thrive together. Its global priorities are to tackle climate change, protect land and water, provide food and water sustainably and build healthy cities.

The discussion with be moderated by Negar Shafaeddin, Giving Women member, who will interview Marianne Kleiberg, Regional Managing Director for The Nature Conservancy’s Europe Program.

Marianne Kleiberg joined the Nature Conservancy in 1999 and after more than 15 years as a conservation leader, the Norwegian national returned to her roots to lead the Conservancy’s efforts in Europe to strengthen TNC’s support around the world for conservation and climate change action. Previously as the Director of Conservation and Deputy Director for the Conservancy’s Caribbean Program she oversaw the operations of six in-country offices and led a multi‐disciplinary team in the execution of conservation strategies in 16 island nations and territories. Marianne also spearheaded the Conservancy’s efforts in the Dominican Republic, established new country programs in Haiti and Cuba and spent nearly a decade managing the Gulf of California Program in La Paz, Mexico.

Negar Shafaeddin is Iranian born having moved to Zurich two years ago from her hometown Geneva. She is a Swiss qualified lawyer currently working at Julius Baer on a Compliance project. She has always been interested in environmental and social issues, having taken a 6 month sabbatical several years ago to work in Turkey in an environmental NGO. In her free time, she now serves as Board member for Capacity, a Zurich based NGO start up incubator, specially geared to accompanying refugees and migrants on the path of entrepreneurship.
