In the 10th anniversary year of Giving Women, the Zurich Chapter of Giving Women invites you to our third workshop of the year in Zurich:

Association versus Foundation?
What is the difference in Swiss law?

4 September 2019, 18:15 to 20:00

Froriep Legal AG
Belleriverstrasse 201,
8008 Zurich

Are you planning to start your nonprofit venture and wondering which legal structure is the most appropriate for your project? Or are you a Board member of an association or foundation and wondering what are your rights and obligations?

In this workshop you will learn about the key features and main differences between the associations and foundations in Switzerland, the two most common forms for nonprofit organisations. You will learn how to register your non-profit organisation and to apply for tax exemption, the duties of the Board and to which reporting obligations these organisations are subject.

With over 13,000 charitable foundations, Switzerland holds a leading international position and has six times more foundations per capita than the US or Germany. We will therefore also look into the legal framework for foundations in Switzerland and you will learn about the registration process to become a legal personality, the minimum starting capital, structure and obligations.
